Evil Twin 'Imperial Biscotti Break' Stout

Evil Twin Imperial Biscotti Break Stout 1
Evil Twin Brewing 'Imperial Biscotti Break' Stout. 11.5% abv. Black in color. Finger of small-bead foamy mocha head. Excellent retention, moderate lacing. Nose of ground coffee, vanilla, nutty, sweet bread.

Front taste of molasses, black coffee, dark chocolate, almond cookie, plum. Aftertaste is raisins, red wine, dark rum, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla sustain, dry on the finish. Medium-full body. Mouthfeel is hot, thick, carby, clingy on the back, astringent overall.

This is an extraordinary imperial stout, one with some unique flavors swirled in with the usual coffee and dark chocolate. The aroma brings to mind sweet bread or cookies (like biscotti) and the flavor profile is loaded with dark fruit and spicy bready taste. It's playful with its mix of flavors but  strong and aggressive, not for those new to craft beer. A powerful, playful imperial stout, and an instant classic for me. Strongly recommended.

From the brewery:

"The Roman Empire had a certain ‘je ne sais quoi’ - festive food culture, extravagant architecture and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that’s still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale."
